The ancient Sashtitantra lay, Its sixty truths had passed away;
A grand discourse of wisdom deep, Was lost to time in silence steep. [1]
A grand discourse of wisdom deep, Was lost to time in silence steep. [1]
Its topics vast, its vision clear, A heritage both rich and dear;
Yet vanished from the mortal earth, Its voice concealed, its noble worth. [2]
Then Ishwar Krishna raised his hand, He wrote the Karika firm and grand;
A faithful scribe, a sage of light, Restoring Sankhya’s path of right. [3]
Thus second birth the doctrine gained, Its truths preserved, its frame sustained;
The Karika stands, concise and sure, A manual vast, serene and pure. [4]
