The Ten Vishnu Avatars
1) Matsya Avatar (The Fish)
Life starts in water, simple and pure,
Floating in currents where instincts endure;
From oceanic depths where the first life began,
Wisdom is saved from the waters for man.
2) Kurma Avatar (The Tortoise)
Leaving the waters to crawl on the shore,
Amphibian steps on the dry land explore;
Grounded and steady where two worlds align,
Building stability by grand design.
3) Varaha Avatar (The Boar)
Walking on four legs, a creature of land,
Mammals emerge on the dirt and the sand;
Digging out truth from the darkness of mud,
Raising the world with a rush of wild blood.
4) Narasimha Avatar (Half-Man, Half-Lion)
Neither full beast nor a human in frame,
Primate transition no creature can tame;
Wild instinct clashes with awakening thought,
Where early intellect and nature are fought.
5) Vaman Avatar (The Dwarf)
Small in his stature, yet walking upright,
Intellect grows to surpass physical might;
Early man steps with a mind sharp and clear,
Measuring cosmos as wisdom draws near.
6) Parashurama Avatar (The Axe-Wielder)
Mastering tools made of stone and of steel,
Living in forests where wild urges heal;
Hunter and warrior who defends his own space,
Cutting down threats to preserve human grace.
7) Rama Avatar (The Moral Leader)
Building the cities with laws and with grace,
Order and virtue take primary place;
Duty and honor now govern the mind,
Leaving the law of the jungle behind.
8) Krishna Avatar (The Divine Philosopher)
Minds reach their peak in a complex design,
Politics, art, and the spirit align;
Mastering karma and cosmic delight,
Guiding mankind through the darkest of night.
9) Buddha Avatar (The Enlightened Sage)
Turning away from the war and the throne,
Seeking the peace of the spirit alone;
Trimming desires to break through the pain,
Inner awakening is all that remains.
10) Kalki Avatar (The Future Destroyer)
When the old world reaches entropy's end,
Destruction arrives so that life can transcend;
Washing the slate so the cycle can start,
Seeding new life from the cosmic restart.
